Biographical Text

Saolaíodh Elisabeth i Melbourne i 1970, agus chaith sí formhór a hóige ag taisteal lena muintir. Bhain sí céim mhúinteoireachta amach agus thosaigh sí ag taisteal timpeall an domhain. Chaith sí tréimhsí ag taisteal i Meiriceá agus san Eoraip, stop sí in Éirinn i 1992, agus phós sí fear ó Ros Cré, mar a bhfuil sí ina cónaí fós. Chaith sí roinnt ama ag obair sa tSeapáin agus chuaigh sí thar n-ais go dtí an Astráil cúpla uair. Ghnóthaigh sí céim MA san Oideachas le déanaí. Foilsíodh leabhar amháin léi, beathaisnéis mhná ó Thiobraid Árann, Daisy Bates, a d'oibrigh i measc na ndaoine dúchasacha san Astráil, agus aistríodh an leabhar seo go Gaeilge.

Elisabeth Monkhouse was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1970 and spent most of her childhood travelling with her family. After taking a teaching degree she set off to see the world and having travelled through America and Europe she stopped briefly in Ireland in 1992 where she married a man from Roscrea where she still lives. She has spent some time working in Japan and made several trips back to Australia. She has recently completed an MA in Education. Her only published work is a biography of a Tipperary woman, Daisy Bates (q.v.), who worked among the Australian aboriginal peoples, which has been translated into Irish.
