Mhaisigh sí an leabhar Daisy Bates (An Gúm, 1999), a scríobh Elizabeth Monkhouse agus Emmet Arrigan.
Mary Arrigan was born in Co. Kildare but now lives in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. She studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and also studied Art History at UCD. She taught art for eighteen years and exhibited paintings and sculpture in both solo and group exhibitions. She began writing stories for radio and magazines in the mid-1980s and left teaching to write and illustrate children's books on a full-time basis in 1994. Writing in English and Irish, she has produced and illustrated a total of twenty-seven books for children of all ages. Many have been translated into Dutch, German, Polish and Swedish. She also illustrated an Irish publication on the life story of Daisy Bates, written by Elisabeth Monkhouse and Emmett Arrigan. She broadcasts short humorous stories on RTE Radio every week, writes a monthly children's book review for The Sunday Tribune and was also commissioned to write for the BBC in July 2001. She has received several awards including the Sunday Times/CWA Short Story Award (1991), a Hennessy Literary Award (1993) and an International White Ravens Title (1997) in Munich.
Her next book Larkspur and the Grand March is due out in 2003.
