Biographical Text

Writer of an unpublished journal (1807-18) MS in Dublin Friends Historical Library. This journal gives an insight into the day-to-day life and concerns of a woman of the period; for example, in 1810 she writes: "I am thirty years of age, it is an awful consideration, even if it should be a long life the prime is over" (42). Her journal also provides a social diary of the Quaker community in Munster during the early years of the nineteenth century. The Clibborns' house in Clonmel seems to have been a convenient resting-point for Quakers travelling to meetings in various parts of the region.
